so in the world of the peace corps everything is acronyms. right now i am in PST, which is preservice training, so i am on my way to Mafraq to begin all of my language and technical training, along with starting my 9 week homestay. I can't wait to meet my family and i'll hopefully be able to get to an internet cafe at at least some point during this time to let you all know how much i am failing at arabic, how much i am being laughed at, and how much i get to make fun of my fellow trainees because they have to adjust to the squatter toilets and (thank you beautiful thailand!) i have already come to terms with that demon. i'll try to post a pic or two, amman is actually pretty awesome from above, but i'm already unbelievably pressed for time. love you all.

Looks like a wonderful neighborhood you've landed in!
What an awesome picture! I am jealous, Steph..have a great time. Miss you
Spoke with Steph today by phone, tomorrow she will be going to her temporary - 9 weeks -home in Khaldeya, Jordan...we all knew where that is right... She is in great spirits and is looking forward to meeting her new "family" (hope she does not like them more than us) The family is a father, age 55, a mother, 45 and 2 children, a boy 12 and a girl 13. She says she wishes she could blog more but that she does not foresee getting internet access anytime soon (maybe not till after Christmas!!!!) I guess they dont have a Starbucks w/ Wi-Fi every 3 blocks like us " lucky ? " people. Steph will be shuttling back and forth by public bus (~ 1 hour each way) between her home and the University of Al Al Bate. Classes will continue in Language, Culture and Customs. She says she has not eaten very much yet but they do have baloney (Bologna for all those not from Pittsburgh)and she eats a lot of Pita bread. The time in Jordan is +7, ie. 1:00 pm here is 8:00pm there. Lisa or I will try to keep you readers posted on Steph's adventures and hopefully she will get "access" sooner because it would be nice to keep up with her life "through her own words." She is a better writer than I am and certainly a better typist. Please add any comments you may like. When she finally gets online she would be extremely happy to see that people are interested.
I finally got to log on and see what you are up too! ( although your mom and I have the pleasure of trying to Face Book eachother or chat and laugh our rear end off. I told her we are losers and she said we were cool. What an awesome experience! Steph, you are in my heart and prayers! She said you seen a camel? I told her, you have seen more wild animals in a couple of years, then I have seen in a lifetime at the zoo! I love you honey and will check back soon! In God's love and mine, nina
